Finally, I have a break on this beautiful memorial day to say hi and catch you up on what’s been happening for Scott and I in Florida. I’ll try not to make this sound like a Christmas family letter
Scott and I just released our latest CD “Another Roller Coaster” in April. It is receiving great reviews. We are super excited about it because we had the most awesome opportunity to have Recording Legend Bruce Swedien produce 3 songs on it. ” I Think I Saw Elvis ( he fell in love with that song and had to record it ) Imperfection ( which will be featured in his upcoming book ( The Bruce Swedien Recording Method ) and Timeless ( A song he asked us to write about Michael Jackson and will be featured in a documentary about Bruce.. by Gareth Maynard ) The CD is available at CDbaby now http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/scottandmichelledalziel and the music video for Timeless can be seen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2HSmc24m-E&list=HL1369676541&feature=mh_lolz
The reason for the title Another Roller Coaster, was after we wrote the title song, we realized, that’s exactly what the CD is, it’s an emotional and honest up and down musical ride. A personal journey for both of us in song form.
We sort of took a break on touring for the summer while I go to school. I’m studying to become a Massage Therapist. I will be graduating at the end of the July. It’s an intense and very rewarding program at Florida School of Massage. I think they teach two year’s worth of Anatomy, physiology, and Kinesiology plus 7 modalities in 6 months. I’m understanding how your muscles move your bones and I’m fascinated!
Scott has been busy teaching guitar and keeping all the things running while I’m in school and that is no easy task. I am not sure he stays so calm and sane. Some days it’s chaotic here and he just goes with the flow. He entered his song ” April 9. 1865 in a songwriting competition for South Florida Folk Festivus, this year, and one first place. So proud of him!
He finally got to see Paul McCartney last Sunday because of our friends Rick and Trish Webber. Scott has been a life long Beatle fan since he was 5. So this was a dream come true for him. He took me along too. Lucky me. We both agree that that concert was the best concert we have ever seen.
This summer, we have some travel time coming. Packing up the Vibe ( gig pig ) and Going to NC, WV, OH, MD, IA, IL in August. Yep, all those in August. In October, we head out to TEXAS, which is as big as all those other states combined. I’m looking forward to seeing our friends and the beautiful scenery they live in.
Florida has been so welcoming to us and our music. The folk festival community has embraced us now and we are so very grateful!!! We’ve met some really great musicians and presenters here. It’s a wealth of talent and beautiful hearts. We miss our friends and family back home and hope to catch up with them in August when we return.
It takes a village ( or in our case a country ) to raise a singer songwriter. We are so grateful to so many people that have made an impact on our musical path. Steve and Joy, Dick and Anita, Jeff and Karen, Scott and Valorie, Rick and Trish, Andy and Peggy, Mike and Mel, Tammy and Reda, Bruce and Bea, and so many others. I just want to say thank you!!!
So wouldn’t it be awesome to host a house concert? We’d love to come play for you. There is a video on our website that explains the whole house concert idea. http://dalziel.net/house-concerts/ We’d be honored to have the chance to play in your living room for your friends. Hope we get the chance.
Thanks for the years of dedication to us. We are forever grateful.
Michelle and Scott.
